Dean Gaylor - Profile

Dean Gaylor
Mance Design

Dean Gaylor has a degree in Industrial Design from the National Institute of Design at Swinburne University, and is a director of Mance Design

Mance Design founded by the late Geoffrey Mance is recognised for bespoke, creative solutions for lighting by Australian and international architects, designers and clients.

The team who continue Geoff’s legacy at Mance Design strive to pursue design excellence and originality whilst surfing the waves of cultural and social change that inform design in the 21st century.

Their vision is simple: They intend to foster the integrity of good timeless design.

How do they do it? A mix of strengths from a diverse team with rich experience in Industrial Design, sculpture and applied arts. Appreciating the psychology of colour is a fundamental; by incorporating strong graphic injections into our interior environments we allow a fuller and richer experience of life itself.

Mance Design looks forward to the future by forging ahead in creating new designs and exploring new export opportunities in the United States and Europe. The business is still focused on custom made lighting, however further afield, they are broadening their design skills and applying them to include furniture and other architectural interior objects

Last year the Mance Design team have been busy with new projects around the globe, including The Borgata Water Polo Club in New Jersey, The City Of Dreams Hotel in Macau and the Gaylord Hotel and Entertainment Complex in Tampa, Florida which now sports a pair of enormous Hedgehogs.

In August 2007, they won the Home Beautiful "Product of the Year Award" in the Luxury Lighting Division for the "Ghost Story" pendant which was a fantastic acknowledgement of their unique design sensibility.
