Is Showing Telling? IP for Product Designers

As part of Fringe Furniture and The Age Melbourne Fringe Festival 2008, Design Victoria; Melbourne Fringe and Melbourne Museum are pleased to present the Business Ready seminar: Is showing telling? IP for Product Designers.

Seminar overview

This forum will explore the intellectual property issues furniture and product designers are facing in establishing and protecting their creative ideas to ensure commercial success.

Focusing on both emerging and established designers, this seminar will include presentations by practising designers and design educators Nick Rennie and Mark Watson and will reflect on what they do (or don't do) to protect their designs. IP lawyer Trevor Choy will then provide an important legal overview before we open to the floor for a timely Q&A session.

Speakers

Nick Rennie – Designer, Happy Finish Design

Mark Watson – Director of Design Providence and Course Co-ordinator of Furniture Design at NMIT

Trevor Choy – IP Lawyer, Choy Lawyers
