Adjunct Professor Alan Pears
Associate Director of the RMIT Centre for Design
Director of the environmental consultancy, Sustainable Solutions

Alan has been involved in many aspects of innovation in business, industry and design of appliances and buildings. He co-wrote Australia's first green home design guidelines in 1992. In the 1990s, he helped to design a number of green appliances and products, including the Dishlex Global series dishwasher and the EcoVend drink vending machine. He has worked at a number of industry sites, driving innovative energy efficiency measures that also improved productivity and product quality. He has also been involved in a number of innovative green building projects, including the 60L Green Building and George Street apartments.
