Dr. Elizabeth “Dori” Tunstall
Associate Professor of Design Anthropology

Elizabeth (Dori) Tunstall is a design anthropologist and strategic planner. For the past six years, she has worked in the field of high-tech and interactive consulting at Sapient and Arc Worldwide.

Holding a Ph.D in Cultural Anthropology, she uses her background to help clients make better decisions by grounding their business and design assumptions in peoples actual attitudes, behaviours and actions. Her diverse roster of clients has included: US Army and Army Reserves, Northern Trust, Sears, General Motors, Allstate Financial, Nokia and Unilever.

Dori is a leader in bringing together the fields of anthropology and design. As an Associate Professor of Design Anthropology, she is one of the first anthropologists to be hired as full-time, tenure track faculty in an American school of art and design. She is an Associate Director of the City Design Centre and passionately committed to Design for Democracy, a non-profit that increases civic participation using inter-disciplinary design and research teams. She holds degrees in Anthropology from Bryn Mawr College and Stanford University.
