Springboard — Entrepreneurship for Australian designers

Springboard

Call for entries — an exciting new initiative for Australian designers.

Springboard is a mentoring program that will enable Australia’s most promising furniture, accessories and homewares designers to develop their professional careers in local and international markets. In Victoria, the program is delivered in association with Design Victoria.

The 12-month project encompasses two stages of valuable training, delivered though workshops and one-to-one mentorship.

Stage one of the program commences in early April with participants developing their individual design practice with the guidance of six leading business professionals drawn from areas essential to business survival in the design sector.

The program covers sustainable best practice, financial management, contractual law, media relations, IP, manufacturing process, retail and export strategy. Mentors include eco-design specialist John Gertsakis, Swedish market strategist Mats Ekström, and former brand consultant for Apple Computer Europe Bradford Gorman.

A list of guest mentors, including co-founder of Dinosaur Designs, Liane Rossler, media specialists and Australian designers will provide real insights on running a thriving design business from Australia.
