Design thinking adds to purposeful thoughts, the goal of changing problematic situations into preferred ones. It addresses situated needs and desires, is driven by values and vision and seeks a better future for those affected by the ideas, services or artefacts it creates.

Designing involves ways of thinking shared by everyone. Context, circumstances, and available knowledge determine how information in a problematic situation will be addressed. Other aspects of the situation call on other modes of thought. Designing is a future oriented collaboration between these different ways of thinking that belongs at the core of basic education and business.
