Why Design?
My answer to the question Why Design? is Denmark. A nation state of just over five million people (less than Victoria) it has few natural assets, and no Nokia, Volvo, IKEA or Ericsson. Yet Denmark has been rated as the world’s best business environment. Many reasons are cited but the one on which most observers agree is the Danish commitment to innovation. The Danes have accepted that design is key to their national prosperity and now it’s imbued through their culture and business life. I wish the same for Victoria (and Australia).
