Why Design?

Design can be everything and nothing. But the thing about design is that it’s almost always about something other than design. Politics. Music. Shelter. Nature. "Not everything is design. But design is about everything", graphic designer Michael Bierut once said. Design is an idea and an object and a way of doing and exploring. Good designers don’t have to know about everything, but the possibility of design is immanent to everything. Why design? Because design is an almost unheard of connection between needs and desires.
