Why Design?
From my experience working with my parents I learned some principles: that quality comes before anything, and if you don’t like it you don’t do it. I believe in the idea that people can benefit from the content of a well cured craft, in a serene working environment. The physicality of the feel of a knitted fabric, its texture, combined with the visual stimuli of the color patterns, can create a profound emotional experience for both the viewer and the wearer of the garment. A design object must fulfill a need for use and may or may not combine this with an aesthetic dimension. An art object lives on its own, regardless of utility, and has not such compromise.
